Levine Properties Purchases Historic Akers Acres
The Historic Akers Acres is a 6.45-acre estate located at 6501 Sardis Road in South Charlotte. The home, a Tudor Revival-style manor constructed of local fieldstone with an English slate roof, was designed by prominent Charlotte architect Louis Asbury, Sr., and built in 1937 for insurance executive James Jones Akers and his wife, Nancy Anderson Akers.
Here’s what Levine Properties President, Daniel Levine, said about the purchase: “As a native Charlottean, I have admired this historic property since I was a child growing up in the neighborhood. When the opportunity arose to purchase this beautiful piece of Charlotte history, I couldn’t pass it up. While we have no specific plans for it at this time, the main goal is to preserve the integrity of the home and discover the best use for the property.”
